When do you know when you have taken technology to far? The world will never know because everyone always wants the next best thing. This is a big problem and solution when it comes to global politics. Global politics absolutely benefit from technology but there are also some downfalls.
The September 11 event brought the issue of technology into consideration. People really notice in realize what the modern technology could cause us. Take this for an example, what if terrorist one day use nuclear bombs and high technology weapons to attack the world. Without this technology country wouldn’t be able to protect their countries.
People wanting technology and the best thing isn’t a new trend. People always want the newest things and that involves technology as well. This has been going on for years with people want “the new”. Technology can become a nuisance very easily. “The problem of technology cannot be separated from the character of human life as a whole” as said in The New Politics of Technology. Don’t get me wrong I love the evolving technology but with technology there are a lot of problems. You have the issues of broken machines and bad computer codes. Take the CIA drown program for example. The CIA drowns program uses remotely-piloted aircraft for battle and war. Other states such as china use this program as well. Can technology really be this helpful in global politics? I think the answer to that is yes. Technology is also use for elections and advertisements. How would the neighboring nations be able to communicate with other without technology? Oil is a thing that every country wants and demands. Not many people relate the Netherlands as a oil country. When oil prices were thought of in the 1990’s, Royal Dutch Shell and ExxonMobil took down the schooneeek field down. Now with technological advances royal Dutch shell and ExxonMobil are pumping oil once more but without as much labor. This companies use all types of technology to transport this oil that is so price. Politics aren’t afraid of technology, it just overwhelms them. All throughout the world information networks are terrorizing foundations. In Iran, cell phone cameras have exposed state brutality to other countries. Governments are trying their very best to slow down and control this technology. In Cuba, people are smuggling in flash drives, memory sticks, and satellite dishes to access the internet. Here is a great way how politics use technology, when Haiti earthquake happen we use text messaging to raise money for the Haiti people. It’s just simple, without technology politics just wouldn’t where they’re now. As technology helps politics a lot it also includes a ton a problems, such as using the internet as a weapon. Other countries can use the internet to broadcast others human behavior as said in iRevolution. With all of this technology terrorist can do more. Terrorist can scouts others using the internet. As that is a downfall the internet also in powers us to help each other. In some countries people use phones to research candidates and monitor elections.
